Custom night guard · uninsured patients
Grinding or clenching your teeth, called bruxism, mostly happens in sleep, so many people don't know they do it. The clues show up in the mouth: flattened or chipped edges on the front teeth, cracked fillings and crowns, sensitivity, and sometimes a partner who hears it at night. Others feel it as tight, aching jaw muscles in the morning, tension headaches, or clicking and discomfort in the jaw joint (TMJ).
Stress, sleep patterns, caffeine, certain medications and bite issues all play a part. Whatever the cause, the force involved is far beyond normal chewing, and over the years it wears teeth down in ways that are expensive to rebuild.
A night guard doesn't stop you clenching, but it takes the wear off your teeth and lets the jaw muscles relax. It's a thin, custom-made acrylic appliance worn over the upper or lower teeth while you sleep. Right now we're offering custom night guards at 50% off for uninsured patients, because we'd much rather make you a guard than rebuild worn teeth later.
Absorbs grinding forces so enamel, veneers, crowns and fillings aren't worn down or cracked.
Many patients notice less morning jaw tightness and fewer tension headaches within weeks.
Made from an impression, so it's slim, stays in place and is comfortable enough to actually wear.
A worthwhile investment made easier for uninsured patients.
We look for wear, check the jaw joints and muscles, and rule out other causes of pain.
A quick impression of your teeth and a record of your bite.
The guard comes back from the lab in about a week or two. We adjust it so it's even and comfortable.
We check how you're doing and make small adjustments if the fit or bite needs tweaking.
The first few nights feel odd; most people adapt within a week. Brush the guard with cool water and a soft brush each morning, let it dry, and keep it in its case away from pets, who find them irresistible. Bring it to your check-ups so we can check for wear. A guard typically lasts several years, less for heavy grinders.
Many private plans cover a night guard, sometimes every few years. Ask us to check your plan. If you're uninsured, the current 50% off promotion applies.
If your question isn't here, call us. A real person picks up during office hours.
You can, but over-the-counter guards are bulky and soft, and some people clench harder on them. A custom guard is thinner, harder-wearing and fitted to your bite.
It helps many people by resting the jaw muscles and preventing clenching damage, but TMJ discomfort can have several causes. We'll assess it honestly and tell you what else might help.
Usually upper, but it depends on your teeth, any dental work, and comfort. We'll recommend what suits you.
Worn or chipped tooth edges, sore jaws on waking, headaches, tooth sensitivity, or a partner who's heard it. We can usually see the signs at a regular exam.
It's our current promotion for uninsured patients. Call the office to confirm it's still running when you book.
